It’s a day the Patrick Taylor football program will never forget. The New Orleans Saints teamed up with American Safety to surprise the Tigers with $25,000 worth of Riddell SpeedFlex Helmets.

South Charleston High School received 56 football helmets that are designed to track player impact data and improve player safety. The WVU Medicine Thomas Foundation donated the Riddell Axiom football helmets and included a subscription to the analytics platform it is paired with, as well as a sideline device.

South Charleston High School football players will take the field Thursday night in new helmets designed to improve player safety. The Black Eagles open their season against Nitro while using Riddell Axiom helmets equipped with a tracking device and analytics platform. The technology is designed to help coaches identify where players are taking the most hits and address unsafe techniques.
